Horizon Journal of Psychology (HJP) is the flagship peer-reviewed journal of Horizon Academic Press, dedicated to advancing psychological science through rigorous, transparent and impactful research.
HJP provides an international platform for scholarship that advances understanding of human behaviour, psychological functioning, mental health, wellbeing and development. The journal welcomes theoretically grounded and methodologically rigorous research across established and emerging areas of psychological science, with particular interest in work that demonstrates scientific significance, contextual relevance and potential application to practice, policy, education, health or community wellbeing.
HJP is committed to promoting methodological rigour, research transparency, reproducibility, open science and culturally responsive psychological research. We encourage scholarship that broadens the evidence base of psychology by engaging diverse populations, cultural contexts and geographical settings.
As a new scholarly journal, HJP is committed to building a rigorous and transparent editorial and peer-review system and to progressively strengthening its contribution to international psychological science.
Publication frequency
HJP publishes two issues per year (biannual), in June and December. Accepted articles complete production and are published online as soon as they are ready, then collected into the next scheduled issue, so publication is never held back by the issue calendar.
Open access and copyright
HJP is a fully open-access, online journal. Articles are freely available to readers worldwide immediately on publication under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0) licence, and authors retain copyright in their work. There is currently no charge to submit or publish.
Preservation and discovery
The version of record is published as a typeset PDF and as machine-readable JATS XML, described with standards-based metadata, and preserved for the long term so that the scholarly record remains accessible and discoverable.
