Manuscript template
Prepare your manuscript using the official HJP template. It sets out the recommended structure, headings, and the author and research-transparency statements your submission must include.

Before you submit
- Confirm your manuscript falls within the journal's Aims & Scope.
- Prepare your manuscript according to the Author Guidelines, including the required transparency statements (ethics approval, informed consent, conflicts of interest, funding, data availability, author contributions and any use of AI tools).
- Ensure your submission meets our standards for publication ethics and data availability.
- Anonymise the manuscript for double-anonymous peer review (remove author names, affiliations and identifying information from the main document).
How to submit
Submissions are made through the journal's online system. Sign in or create an account, then follow the guided submission steps to upload your manuscript and enter metadata. You can start a submission here. You will be able to track your manuscript's progress and respond to editorial and reviewer feedback within the same system.
Editorial and peer-review process
Each submission is first checked by the editorial office for scope and completeness, then assigned to a handling editor and sent for independent expert review. See the Peer Review Policy for details of the process, criteria and expected timelines.
